Courtois has medical at Chelsea

Highly-rated teenage goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is having a medical at Chelsea ahead of his expected move from Genk.

Chelsea recently agreed a fee for the 6ft 6in 19-year-old, who has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs.

The Belgian champions were keen to keep him, but Genk director Dirk Degraen said his club received an “enormous offer that gave us no choice but to let him go.”

Courtois has been touted as a possible long-term replacement for first-choice Blues keeper Petr Cech.

He made 40 Pro League appearances last season and was a key player as Genk won the Belgian title.
