Fulham boss faces decision on Enoh

Fulham manager Martin Jol says he will decide whether to sign Eyong Enoh on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

The on-loan Ajax midfielder has broken into the first team in recent weeks and impressed Jol – and Fulham have first option to sign the Cameroon international in the summer.

“We have to make a decision on him. Enoh is getting fitter and he’s doing a good job,” said Jol.

“Taking him was a bit of a gamble. He has done well, he’s exactly what we needed. We hoped he would be good and he has proved that.

“We are not stupid – we always try to get an option [to buy on-loan players] and Ajax didn’t play him so we got an option on him.

“If we feel he is the right player in that position then we will make that decision.”

Jol is looking at a potential overhaul of his midfield this summer, with the contracts of Giorgos Karagounis, Chris Baird and the injured Mahamadou Diarra all expiring.

The Whites boss added: “If you get big stars in that position you have to pay a lot of money, so you have to gamble. You have to take players when they’re bad sometimes.

“If you look at the midfield, I think Steve Sidwell is probably the only one left if you think of all the players we had six or seven months ago.

“We are looking in the market and we have to do something.”
