Fulham v QPR player ratings

Fulham’s 3-2 win at Craven Cottage nudged their west London neighbours closer to a return to the Championship. Here’s how we rated the players in Monday’s pulsating derby.

Fulham

Mark Schwarzer: 7
Might have done better for QPR’s first goal but atoned by keeping out Loic Remy’s penalty and producing a late save to deny Bobby Zamora.

Sascha Riether: 7
Another fine display from the German defender, who was solid at the back and effective going forward.

Brede Hangeland: 7
Calm in defence and played a key role in Fulham’s third goal.

Philippe Senderos: 6
Nervous at times and beaten for QPR’s second goal, but battled hard.

John Arne Riise: 7
Defensively assured and gave Rangers problems down the left-hand side.

Damien Duff: 7
Alert for Fulham’s all-important second, pouncing on Chris Samba’s mistake and creating a goal for Berbatov. His clever movement troubled Rangers.

Steve Sidwell: 7
Was having a very good game in midfield before being sent off for a daft challenge.

Giorgos Karagounis: 5
A poor display. His mishap led to QPR’s first goal, he later gave away a penalty, and also gave the ball away a number of times.

Ashkan Dejagah: 7
Won the penalty which led to the opening goal and was always a threat before going off injured.

Bryan Ruiz: 7
Sloppy on occasions but overall had a good game, supporting Dimitar Berbatov well and creating openings with his movement and passing.

Dimitar Berbatov: 8
Slotted home his penalty nicely and his classy finish for his second goal summed him up. His quality in and around the penalty area was far too much for the likes of Samba to handle.

Urby Emanuelson: 5
Came on as a substitute, gave the ball away several times and was then substituted himself as Fulham made a tactical change following Sidwell’s dismissal.

QPR

Julio Cesar: 6
Not at fault for any of the goals but was hardly a commanding presence behind his hapless defence.

Jose Bosingwa: 5
Can look the part when given time and space, which Fulham did not give him.

Chris Samba: 5
Gave away two goals through pure shoddiness. Given his price tag and salary, that’s unacceptable. It’s also totally predictable given QPR’s refusal to stop effectively inviting players to join them for financial reasons.

Clint Hill: 5
Tried his best as ever and was somewhat unfortunate for his own goal. Was outclassed by Berbatov and Ruiz though.

Armand Traore: 5
Had his work cut of defensively and offered little going forward.

Andros Townsend: 7
Bright in spells and always willing to work hard with and without the ball. Has done very well for Rangers.

Stephane Mbia: 7
One of his best displays for QPR. Closed down well in midfield and set up his team’s second goal.

Jermaine Jenas: 5
A passenger for most of the game.

Adel Taarabt: 7
Gave the ball away, but is always likely to do so on occasions. It doesn’t excuse his team-mates’ dismal defending. Justified his selection with a well taken goal and by winning a penalty. Too much was read into Rangers winning two very winnable games without him.

Bobby Zamora: 6
Had a couple of decent attempts but overall was uninspiring on his return to Craven Cottage. Missed a good chance in the first half.

Loic Remy: 7
Took his goal well, having made a hash of his penalty. Always a threat in the second half.

Nedum Onuoha: 6
Decent enough after replacing Hill at half-time.
