Forshaw: Bees are aiming for top spot

Adam Forshaw says Brentford have the League One title in their sights.

Uwe Rosler’s side, who are fourth in the table and face Notts County on Friday, are level on points with second-placed Swindon and have a game in hand on the Robins and leaders Doncaster.

And Bees midfielder Forshaw insists his team are looking not only to win automatic promotion, but finish top of the pile.

“We want to be champions,” the former Everton man told West London Sport.

“Since the Swindon game, when we came back from being a goal behind, it has spurred everybody on again and we realise once more what a massive opportunity we have.

“Our aim at the start of the season might have been the play-offs but we couldn’t have imagined the season going any better up until this point.

“So now our aim is to finish top of the division.”

Brentford appear to be brimming with confidence again after a sticky period earlier in the year in which they won only once in six league games.

Forshaw added: “We’re not looking behind us any more, we are aiming high and we are good enough to win the league.

“It’s tight but there is no single, massive contender despite Doncaster having a slight advantage at this point.

“Our return to form has been a team effort – from the goalkeeper right through to the strikers with Clayton Donaldson back scoring again.

“There is positivity right through the club, from the staff to the manager and the players and I believe we can get promoted.”
