Zamora to miss crucial Southampton game
Bobby Zamora has been ruled out of QPR’s crucial clash with Southampton.
The striker picked up an ankle injury during the defeat against Manchester United last weekend and has failed to recover in time.
His absence is a blow for bottom-of-the-table Rangers, who have been without January signing Loic Remy and were hoping the pair would form a partnership now the Frenchman has overcome a groin problem.
It is hoped that Zamora, who has also been nursing an ongoing hip complaint, will be able to return to training next week.
“Bobby is struggling. He did his ankle last week,” explained R’s boss Harry Redknapp.
“We bring Remy in and Bobby’s not fit and vice versa. He’s not going to be available.
“That was the plan – to get Bobby and Remy playing together. Now whoever plays has got to do the job.”
