Brentford striker eyes return to action

Farid El Alagui says he is optimistic he will be back in action before the end of the season.

The Brentford forward, 27, suffered knee ligament damage in a collision with Crawley Town goalkeeper Paul Jones in October.

But he is already running again and has praised Brentford’s medical staff for their hard work in getting him on course for a return.

“I have started running outside again, feeling the grass, and it is great,” he told West London Sport.

“I feel a big improvement every week. I’m not back in training yet, but everything I have done so far has been fine and I’m feeling strong.

“I’m optimistic – I can’t say yes or no – but to come back before the end of the season would be amazing.”

El Alagui, who signed from Falkirk last summer, added: “The medical facilities here are great and that was one of the things I liked when I met the club before I signed.

“The medical staff have treated me like a son. Like family. So I am really pleased with how the rehabilitation has gone.”
