Brentford suffer defeat at Yeovil
Yeovil 3 Brentford 0
Brentford were brought down to earth following their recent FA Cup exploits.
Having won plaudits for their display against Chelsea, Uwe Rosler’s side were dealt a blow in their battle for promotion.
Their defeat included a brilliant strike by Ed Upson, who put Yeovil 2-0 up with a 30-yard thunderbolt.
The Glovers’ first goal – a tidy finish by Paddy Madden just after the half-hour mark – came against the run of play.
Brentford dominated the early stages, with Harry Forrester having an effort cleared off the line and keeper Marek Stech producing fine saves to deny Clayton Donaldson and Tom Adeyemi.
Upson’s cracker shortly before half-time put Yeovil firmly in command and they scored a third when Dan Burn volleyed home from close range with eight minutes remaining.
Shaleum Logan prevented a fourth goal by clearing a Kwesi Appiah header off the line.
Brentford: Moore; Logan, Dean, Craig, Bidwell; Kiernan (Saunders 60); Forshaw (Trotta 45), Douglas, Adeyemi, Forrester (Hayes 72); Donaldson
Subs not used: Lee, Hodson, Barron, Diagouraga
