Half-time: Fulham 1 West Ham 0
Dimitar Berbatov celebrated his 32nd birthday by putting Fulham ahead in the London derby at Craven Cottage.
The Bulgarian netted in the 11th minute, heading home Damien Duff’s right-wing free-kick at the far post.
West Ham finished the half strongly and Kevin Nolan missed a good chance to equalise when he headed wide from Mohamed Diame’s cross.
But Berbatov remained a threat and almost scored again two minutes before the break, when he sent a 25-yard effort wide of keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen’s right-hand post.
Whites boss Martin Jol made three changes to his line-up.
Philippe Senderos, Giorgos Karagounis and Hugo Rodallega started, Aaron Hughes dropped to the bench along with Chris Baird, while Alex Kacaniklic missed out altogether.
Loan signing Emmanuel Frimpong is among the substitutes, as is Simon Davies.
Fulham: Schwarzer, Riether, Hangeland, Senderos, Riise, Duff, Karagounis, Sidwell, Rodallega, Ruiz, Berbatov.
Subs: Etheridge, Baird, Petric, Frimpong, Hughes, Dejagah, Davies.
