Wenger plans to attack stuttering Chelsea
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says his team will show plenty of attacking intent in Sunday’s derby at Chelsea.
The Blues’ stuttering home form continued on Wednesday evening when they drew 2-2 with Southampton after being two up.
That slip-up followed recent wins at Stamford Bridge for Swansea and bottom-of-the-table QPR.
Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez has argued that his team’s problems at home have been caused by opposing sides defending in numbers.
But Wenger has hinted that will not be the case against the Gunners, who won 5-3 at the Bridge last season.
He said: “I saw the final part of the Southampton game and Southampton had a go. They played well.
“We will not change our style too much. We will try to attack and try to create chances.”
However, the Frenchman is wary of the added attacking threat posed by Chelsea following the signing of Demba Ba, who has already netted three times since moving to west London from Newcastle.
“He scored 13 goals before he went to Chelsea, so you are not surprised that he can score goals,” said Wenger.
“At Chelsea he has even more chances, so you’d think he will be even more prolific. He’s a very efficient centre-forward.”
