Benitez: Blues defence is ready for Carroll
Rafael Benitez says Chelsea are capable of dealing with the aerial threat of West Ham striker Andy Carroll in Saturday’s derby at Upton Park.
Fulham are among a number of teams who have struggled against the England target man this season, but Benitez believes his side’s defence know what is expected of them.
“He’s good in the air but we have some good players in defence who are also good in the air,” said the interim Blues boss.
“With a team like them it’s important to have someone to win the first ball and then the second ball.
“West Ham are a good team, are doing well and are comfortable in mid-table. It’s a tough team to play against.”
