Redknapp has stern message for players
New manager Harry Redknapp has told QPR’s under-performing players to buck their ideas up.
There were no cliches about clean slates and fresh starts at Redknapp’s first press conference at Rangers boss.
Instead he pointed the finger at the expensively-assembled squad whose failure to win a league game this season led to Mark Hughes being sacked last week.
“It’s about working hard. When you lose the ball you chase to get it back – it’s what you learnt at school,” Redknapp declared.
“We don’t want to see people losing the ball and then standing there. I want grafters here.
“The players are responsible – four points from 13 games. They’ve lost a good manager in Mark and now we’ve all got to work hard to get out of the position we’re in.
“People can come out with whatever jargon they like – it’s about chasing, working hard with and without the ball.
“I want to succeed here, badly. If the players try as hard as I’m going to try we’ll be successful.”
