Diakite: I owe QPR
QPR midfielder Samba Diakite has told the BBC World Service he feels he owes the club for the support given to him.
The Mali international, signed from French side Nancy earlier this year, was allowed to return to France for personal reasons.
“I hope I can repay them for that. I think I owe the club a lot for what they’ve done for me,” he said.
“I won’t forget how helpful the club was with me. They were very, very patient with me. They did everything to make sure I was okay.”
Diakite also indicated that he may not take part in the Africa Cup of Nations if QPR are involved in a relegation battle.
Adel Taarabt is expected to feature for Morocco in the tournament in South Africa, which is due to begin in January.
R’s boss Mark Hughes recently admitted his concern but stressed that clubs have no choice but to release players if they are called up.
