Hughes braced for Cup of Nations headache
QPR manager Mark Hughes has admitted his concern at the prospect of being without Adel Taarabt during January and February because of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Taarabt has been a stand-out player for Rangers in recent weeks but could be unavailable to Hughes until the middle of February should Morocco go all the way to the final.
“If he’s involved then we have to release him and that would be a blow for us,” said Hughes.
“If he’s picked there’s an obligation that he has to go. There’s not a great deal we can do.
“He’s one of their better players and I would have thought he’ll be involved. We’ll have to cross that one when we come to it.”
Rangers also expect to lose Mali’s Samba Diakite to the tournament in South Africa, which begins on 19 January.
