Toms aims to bounce back in Prizefighter

Northolt’s Ryan Toms will be among the light-middleweights competing in the latest instalment of the popular Prizefighter tournament at York Hall on Saturday night.

The 30-year-old – a 20/1 outsider to win the trophy – has been drawn to face Scotland’s Kris Carslaw in the quarter-finals at the iconic Bethnal Green venue.

It will be Toms’ first fight since an unsuccessful challenge for the English title against Erick Ochieng in September, when he was stopped in the fifth round.

The winner of the competition, which is screened live on Sky Sports, will pocket £32,000, with £2,000 for each victory by knockout.

The other six participants are Larry Ekundayo, Craig McEwan, Peter Vaughan, Terry Carruthers, Nav Mansouri and Curtis Valentine.

Scotsman McEwan and north Londoner Ekundayo, the two tournament favourites, were drawn against each other in the quarter-finals.
