QPR chief denies reports Hughes is on the brink of the sack
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has strongly denied reports Mark Hughes is on the brink of the sack.
It has been reported that Hughes could lose his job as Rangers manager if they fail to beat Reading on Sunday, and that senior figures at Loftus Road have lost faith in the Welshman.
Despite another summer of big spending, Rangers are bottom of the table and still without a league win this season.
But Fernandes has again insisted that Hughes has the R’s hierarchy’s full support.
“Mark has my backing and the shareholders. We need a little luck and no injuries. What’s written in the press is all rubbish,” he tweeted.
Fernandes added: “I honestly believe we have one of the best managers in the premier league. And we are in for the long term. Whatever happens.
“We love QPR. Ill be there at reading so rangers fans ill be available to meet and chat. Trust me on this one. Keep the faith. Stability is the key.”
Meanwhile, Stephane Mbia has apologised for his sending-off in Saturday’s defeat at Arsenal.
“Im sorry about saturday. Ive learned for next time. Thanks to fans and team for the support. Very focused for next very important dates,” the defender tweeted.
