O’Meara ready for York Hall return
Steve O’Meara says he is relishing the prospect of a return to action at York Hall on Friday evening.
The 28-year-old light-middleweight will take on Tony Randell at the iconic Bethnal Green venue – where O’Meara’s last two fights have ended in first-round victories.
He became southern area champion by beating fellow West Londoner Ryan Toms there in September last year before poleaxing Nathan Weise three months later.
Injuries have meant O’Meara, who was born in Shepherd’s Bush and lives in West Drayton, has not fought since seeing off Weise.
He now aims to continue his march towards a shot at the British or Commonwealth title.
“It’s been a frustrating time and I’m really looking forward to getting back in the ring,” O’Meara told West London Sport.
“I want to get a few rounds under my belt, show what I can do and then go on and get the title fight that I know I’m ready for.
“Training’s gone really well and I can’t wait for the fight now. I’m fit and raring to go.”
