Di Matteo: Blues have had no bids for Luiz

Chelsea have had no offers for David Luiz and the defender is not for sale, manager Roberto Di Matteo has insisted.

Manchester City were this week reported to have tabled a £30m bid for Luiz, who was also linked with Barcelona.

City have subsequently made it clear they have no interest in the Brazilian, while Di Matteo is confident Luiz would remain at Stamford Bridge even if Barca were to target him.

“There have been no approaches for Luiz and he’s not for sale at any price,” the Italian said.

“The player will be here for the long term. I believe we can withstand Barcelona. We don’t feel any pressure from them. This club has been very successful in the past.

“I don’t see why any player would want to leave us for anywhere else. We always compete for trophies and are an ambitious club with an ambitious owner.”
