Half-time: Wigan 0 Chelsea 2
Chelsea – and new signing Eden Hazard in particular – made a blistering start to their Premier League campaign.
The European Champions were 2-0 up after only seven minutes, with Belgian starlet Hazard involved in both goals.
He skipped away from his man and threaded through a perfect pass for Branislav Ivanovic, who fired in the opener.
Frank Lampard then netted from the penalty spot after Hazard had been brought down by Ivan Ramis.
Hazard was handed his league debut for the Blues and fellow new arrival Oscar is among the substitutes.
Ryan Bertrand was given a starting place ahead of Daniel Sturridge, while Ramires is out because of illness.
Chelsea transfer target Victor Moses was included in Wigan’s starting line-up.
