Chelsea boss in no rush to sign right-back
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo insists there is no urgent need for him to sign a right-back before the transfer window closes.
Branislav Ivanovic, who can also operate as a central defender, is likely to start the season at full-back unless the Blues bring someone in.
They have made enquiries about Cesar Azpilicueta of Marseille and been linked with the likes of Inter Milan’s Maicon and Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel.
But Di Matteo says he is in no rush to make a signing and believes he has enough defensive options.
“It depends if there’s a good opportunity. Otherwise, I’m happy with the squad,” said Di Matteo.
“We have Paulo Ferreira, who last season played in some very important games. We’ve also got a young player in Sam Hutchinson. So at the moment I think we have some cover.”
