Fulham’s stadium plan gets green light
Fulham’s planned redevelopment of the Riverside Stand at Craven Cottage has been approved by Hammersmith & Fulham Council.
The stand is to be transformed, raising the capacity of the stadium to 30,000 and vastly improving matchday facilities.
As part of the project, the riverside walk from Putney to Hammersmith will be opened up for the first time in recent history.
‘This is extremely exciting news and we are all delighted with this outcome,” said Fulham chief executive Alistair Mackintosh.
“Craven Cottage is synonymous with Fulham FC and it is vital that the club is given every opportunity to develop the facilities available to ensure that it can continue to prosper and compete, and remain at its home for the long term.”
Council leader Cllr Nicholas Botterill said: “Craven Cottage is the historic home of Fulham Football Club and this modest expansion, which will be carried out in a sensitive and sensible way, will allow the club to remain competitive in the top tier of English football while removing the existing, rather ugly, Riverside Stand.
“Our residents will also enjoy a series of community benefits such as an opened up river walk and improvements at Bishops Park.
“We are the only borough in Britain to be the home to three top-flight football clubs and we are keen to work with all of them to get the best deal for our residents.”

Great news tonight for fulham fc. I keep an eye out for them as leyton orient used to play them every year and now theyre seemingly flying. Just a few points. Wolves have recently topped the 30k mark at molineux and brighton are following. Both have big ambitions but have no guarentee of getting into the premier league.
Fulham must prioritise making 40 points next season without danny murphy and believe u have to go far and wide to replace him. Luca modric wont sign for fulham will he?
Also there is so much potential at the cottage. Mark hughes was the last to abandon ship when all seemed very settled so keeping martin jol must be a priority now. The fans are great and are a very happy bunch. Theres no need to aim for the stars just yet. Maybe a pims stand at points around the ground would go down well.
