Blues face competition from Liverpool for Walcott – report

Roberto Di Matteo faces competition from Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers for the signing of Theo Walcott from Arsenal, according to The Sun.

It is claimed that Chelsea manager Di Matteo plans to make a formal offer for Walcott, but Rodgers is said to be desperate to capture him and plans to finance a £15m bid by selling striker Andy Carroll.

The Sun also suggest Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s willingness to spend big this summer is leading other Premier League clubs to splash the cash in an attempt to keep up.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail say Chelsea captain John Terry has been told the FA will make a decision this week as they consider charging him with making a racial insult towards QPR’s Anton Ferdinand

The Mail also say Chelsea are among the clubs interested in Birmingham’s 13-year-old sensation Foday Nabay and that Blues forward Daniel Sturridge can play in the Olympics after being given the all-clear following his bout of viral meningitis.
