Chelsea v Morecambe player ratings
Chelsea cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 5-0 win against League Two side Morecambe. Here’s how we rated each Blues player.
Filip Jorgensen: 7
Made a few saves and claimed a couple of crosses on a day he was rarely troubled. Also looked comfortable with the ball at his feet and playing out from the back.
Reece James: 6
Eased back into action as he made his first appearance in three months. Played the first 45 minutes and looked solid in a game that required him to be physical from the get-go.
Axel Disasi: 7
Dealt well with Morecambe’s forwards and also made himself a nuisance while attacking corners, but struggled to keep his headers on target.
Tosin Adarabioyo: 9
Opened the scoring five minutes before half-time when a speculative shot from outside the box deflected into the net. Then curled a beauty into the top corner from even further out with 20 minutes to play.
Renato Veiga: 6
Played in front of Chelsea’s back line for the most part, which allowed him to float in and out of midfield. Didn’t do enough to suggest he should play that role in the Premier League.
Romeo Lavia: 6
Only played the first half as he made his return from injury, but looked comfortable enough in midfield. Was strong against physical opposition and also looked to release Chelsea’s attackers by breaking the lines with the odd through ball.
Joao Felix: 9
Was Chelsea’s biggest attacking threat and got a deserved brace late on. He first beat Morecambe goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne with a smart, low finish, and curled in his second after he showed smart feet to work the angle.
Pedro Neto: 5
Saw plenty of the ball in the opening exchanges, but faded as the first half went on. Was replaced at the break.
Christopher Nkunku: 7
Scored Chelsea’s second goal when he fired in a rebound from close range. Did miss a penalty early on, which was saved well.
Tyrique George: 7
Bright on the left side and linked up well with Felix to cause problems for Morecambe’s back line. Still searching for an elusive first goal for the senior team, but got an important 90 minutes under his belt.
Marc Guiu: 6
Was unable to get a clear sight of goal and his best effort was a shot from the edge of the box that found the side netting.
Jadon Sancho: 7
Came off the bench at half-time and proved a bit of a nightmare for the Morecambe defenders. Attacked relentlessly for much of the second half, but just lacked a final product.
Malo Gusto: 6
Often picked up positions on the edge of the opposition box where he looked to curl in some dangerous crosses.
Marc Cucurella: 7
Made an instant impact off the bench and played a part in Nkunku’s goal. Nearly scored one of his own when he curled an effort into the side netting.
