QPR midfielder Colback sidelined by knee injury

QPR midfielder Jack Colback faces several more weeks on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery.

Colback, 34, has been out since suffering the injury against Sheffield Wednesday last month.

Rangers hoped to have him back after the recent international break, but the problem has not been resolved.

Head coach Marti Cifuentes explained: “Jack Colback has unfortunately had to have small surgery on his knee.

“Against Sheffield Wednesday he got (what seemed like) a minor injury but, in the end, conservative treatment was not enough. It will take some weeks for him to recover.”

On a brighter note for Rangers, Jake Clarke-Salter, recently sidelined by a calf injury, has been passed fit to return for Saturday’s game against Portsmouth.

And Ilias Chair has spent the international break working on his fitness, having missed the early matches of the season with a back injury.

Cifuentes said: “He’s improving every week and has been very eager to try to help the team – even before perhaps he was ready.

“He’s been training at a really high level and it has been a good couple of weeks.”
