Jensen faces weeks out but Henry ‘still on track’ – Frank
Thomas Frank has confirmed that Brentford midfielder Mathias Jensen will be out for several weeks with a calf injury.
Jensen was recently forced to withdraw from the Denmark squad and will miss Saturday’s trip to Manchester City.
The Been boss also explained that the injury which forced Rico Henry to miss a behind-closed-doors friendly against QPR is not linked to the knee injury he suffered last season.
Frank said: “He (Henry) is still on track. He got a minor, minor muscle injury. That’s he didn’t play the friendly last week but we expect him to be on the (training) pitch tomorrow.
“It’s a setback but it’s not really a setback Nothing to do with the knee, which is a good thing.
“We wanted him to play 60 minutes last week and maybe be on the bench Saturday, and then play Tuesday [against Leyton Orient in the Carabao Cup].”
Frank added that it will be a while before summer signing Gustavo Nunes is in first-team action.
The Brazilian winger is still recovering from a stress fracture in his back – and has been bonding off the pitch with another of Brentford’s summer recruits.
“[Igor] Thiago has been like a big brother and taken him under his wing,” Frank revealed.
“He’s trying to teach him how to be a pro. He’s still young and will hopefully learn a lot.
“Gustavo is a player can help us soon if he’s ready. He’s not able to be on pitch for the next several weeks but it’s not something we’re concerned about. We knew about it.”
