No loan move for QPR keeper Walsh, says Cifuentes
QPR will not be sending keeper Joe Walsh out on loan before the transfer window closes.
Walsh, 22, spent time on loan at Accrington last season and made his R’s debut against Coventry in the final match of the campaign.
A number of clubs have since shown an interest in taking him on loan, but head coach Marti Cifuentes wants to keep him at Loftus Road.
A loan move could be arranged for Walsh during the second half of the season, but he is set to remain with Rangers for the time being at least.
Cifuentes explained: “The plan is to keep him. I see big potential in him.
“He’s a keeper that has been developing a lot since my arrival and I’m very happy with him.
“I want him to stay here and that’s what’s going to happen, at least during the next months.”
Walsh was impressive during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win at Cambridge United but Rangers conceded a goal after he gave the ball away.
But Cifuentes insisted: “We conceded a goal and it’s my responsibility because I ask them to play with that kind of risk. I think he had a very good game.”
Meanwhile, Cifuentes also says he expects Ilias Chair to stay at QPR.
