Pochettino understands Chelsea fans’ reaction to loss

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino said he understood the frustration of fans as Nottingham Forest won at Stamford Bridge for the first time in 28 years.

Anthony Elanga’s goal early in the second half clinched the three points for Steve Cooper’s men, who were full value for their win despite Chelsea dominating for much of the game.

Pochettino’s side struggled to break down a well-organised Forest defence and there were boos from the crowd at the final whistle as the Blues’ underwhelming home record continued.

In 21 Premier League home matches dating back to the start of last season, Chelsea have won just seven, but Pochettino is confident his expensively-assembled squad can turn around that form.

“You can understand the people that came from the past, they want to see the team win and play well,” Pochettino said.

“We are not playing fantastic but the performances are not bad.

“If we score in the first few minutes when we had two big chances and the score was 2-0 then it would have finished differently.

“But I understand they want to win and we have to give them the opportunity to be happy but we need to keep working.

“This is Chelsea and you have to win every game.”
