Terry spoke to Zamora about Hodgson
John Terry spoke to QPR striker Bobby Zamora about new England manager Roy Hodgson, the defender has revealed in an interview with The Sun.
Zamora played at Fulham under Hodgson, who was this week placed in charge of the national team despite Harry Redknapp being the odds-on favourite for the job.
Former England captain Terry said: “I always thought Roy Hodgson was a genuine candidate and I was surprised no one really mentioned him.
“Clearly all the hype was for Harry Redknapp but the FA have taken their time to appoint the right man to lead us to success and I think this is a great appointment.
- Zamora was a key player for Hodgson at Fulham.
“I spoke to Bobby Zamora who worked with him at Fulham and he always spoke highly about Roy.”
Terry also insisted that he would have no problem playing alongside Rio Ferdinand at the European Championships this summer.
There has been speculation about whether the pair will line up together for England given that Chelsea skipper Terry has been accused of racially abusing Ferdinand’s brother Anton when the Blues played QPR in October.
But Terry stated: “I don’t have an issue playing with anyone and never have done. I don’t pick and choose who plays for England and if I’m selected to play it won’t become an issue either.”
