Lowe: Preston capitalised on QPR’s weaknesses
Preston boss Ryan Lowe felt they capitalised on QPR’s lack of confidence in their 2-0 win at Loftus Road.
Tom Cannon’s second-half brace condemned Rangers to a fourth straight defeat.
It left them just one point above the relegation zone heading into an Easter Monday visit to West Bromwich Albion.
Lowe said: “We knew QPR are fighting for points and down there it can sometimes be a banana skin, and that’s the danger.
“But the lads were professionally solid and resolute from minute dot when we got here.
“They knew what QPR could pose you, we knew what they could do, but we nullified all their strengths and capitalised on their weaknesses.
“I am not being disrespectful, but we know QPR are low on confidence. They need points, and sometimes you have got to sort of smell that and really go for it.
“If we would have taken our foot off the gas then one set-play, one long ball, one second ball, strike, goal, deflection or a penalty, anything could have happened.
“We had to be solid and resolute in that but we knew that we would get opportunities because we got them in the first half.”
Huddersfield’s win at Watford means QPR are now only above the relegation zone because of Reading’s six-point deduction.
