Di Matteo: Newcastle star’s goal was ‘a strange shot’
Roberto Di Matteo appeared to suggest that Papiss Cisse did not mean the amazing strike that sealed Newcastle’s 2-0 win at Chelsea.
Cisse hit the net with a great first-half opener and then registered his 13th goal in 12 matches for the Magpies with a long-range effort with the outside of his right boot.
Chelsea boss Di Matteo told Sky: “I don’t think even he knew what he was doing. It was a strange shot and went in at the far post.”
The Italian now turns his attention to Saturday’s FA Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley as the games come thick and fast for his team.
“It’s demanding, but we have to pick ourselves up and go again. We’ve got a big game on Saturday,” he said.

And wherelse was he trying to put the ball. It was definately a shot and it definately knocked the crap out of Chelsea. Goal of the season no doubt, and manager of the season without a doubt. if we hadn’t dropped so many stupid points earlier in the season, we’d be out of sight of the Spuds and a shoe in for the Champions League . As it is i’m more than happy with the Europa Cup. We are back with a whopping big bang. Come on the Toon. HWTL.

Of course he didn’t mean it… he half-volleyed at pace because he wanted to put it into the stands. In fact, every one of his 13 goals have been flukes!
Really, Di Matteo is just envious of another persons ability. It doesn’t suit him – he’s normally a much more generous person. Perhaps the pressure is getting to him a bit.
