Boss expects Marin to be a first-team player next season
Roberto Di Matteo expects new signing Marko Marin to be a first-team player for Chelsea next season.
The 23-year-old has been captured from Werder Bremen and although he is regarded as a good prospect, some eyebrows have been raised in Germany at his move to Stamford Bridge, which will be formally completed in the summer.
But interim boss Di Matteo says Marin has been brought in with the intention of blooding him straightaway and believes his versatility could be an asset.
“He’s been signed for next season,” Di Matteo insisted.
“He’s a skilful player – very talented – and will certainly add some different qualities to this team.
“He can play in a few different roles. He’s an attacking player with creativity. It also depends on the way the team play.”
