Chelsea ‘ready to turn to Spurs boss Redknapp’
Chelsea are ready to turn to Harry Redknapp after the Tottenham boss was snubbed by England, according to the Daily Star.
It is claimed that Blues owner Roman Abramovich is a fan of Redknapp’s attacking brand of football and the former West Ham manager is now a serious contender to take over at Stamford Bridge.
Abramovich’s shortlist is still believed to be headed by Pep Guardiola, who insists he will take time out of football following his recent departure from Barcelona.
The Daily Mirror and The Sun both say Redknapp’s future at White Hart Lane is in doubt after talks over a new contract stalled.
Meanwhile, The Independent suggest Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Cech has urged interim boss Roberto Di Matteo to play with two up front so that Fernando Torres can partner Didier Drogba.
“I’d start both,” Cech said. “I believe it is possible but I don’t know whether it would be done or if it would work.
“I am sure one day it will happen and there will be goals.”
