Proud Frank savours ‘complete’ Brentford win
Thomas Frank felt Brentford’s win against West Ham was as good a performance as they have produced since winning promotion to the top flight.
The Bees beat David Moyes’ side 2-0 in a one-sided London derby – their fourth victory in their past five matches.
It followed the 4-1 triumph against Chelsea – and boss Frank felt the display was in some ways even better than the one at Stamford Bridge.
“It was close to being a complete performance,” he said.
“I think this is the first time in the Premier League when we have more or less controlled the game from minute one to minute 90.
“Winning 2-0 against a very good side like West Ham in that way, and restricting them to five shots in the whole game, that’s ‘wow’ for me.
“It was very, very pleasing, especially the way we did it today. I really admire what David Moyes and his coaching team have done this season at West Ham – very, very impressive.
“So, that we were able to do that today means that we have obviously hit a very high level of performance.
“We played with confidence, big discipline and determination, and if you can do that then there’s a good chance you can win.
“It’s a very proud feeling, because the performance was in some ways even more complete than the Chelsea one.
“The way we did it today just shows how far we’ve come.”
Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring just after half-time and then set up Ivan Toney for the second goal.
“I’m really pleased that Bryan got his goal today, because I think he needed that to get that little extra confidence,” Frank said.
