Warburton defends players and calls for calm after QPR defeat
QPR boss Mark Warburton defended his players and insisted there is no need to panic after his side slipped to a second successive defeat.
Rangers, who lost to bottom club Barnsley on Saturday, were poor again at The Den as Millwall cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win thanks to second-half goals from Mason Bennett and Tyler Burey.
Despite the loss, Rangers remain in fourth place, and Warburton called for perspective despite some under-par recent display.
“They are in a great position and people are saying ‘Are they wasting it?’ Who got them there in the first place? They (the players) did,” Warburton said.
“In what world are we living? We are fourth in the league and people are saying ‘Change him, he’s not good enough’.
“They have got us to where we are now; their efforts, application and work-ethic has got us into fourth.
“They have lost a couple of games but it is this panic that spreads. Everyone has to calm down. They are a good team, they haven’t become a bad set of players overnight.
“There is no need to be over-reactionary. They are fourth with a game in hand. At the start of the season would we have taken it?
“I know it is football, I know it is fans, but sometimes we just need to calm down at look at the table.
“Tonight was Millwall’s night and our fans who gave the team great backing will have to make a miserable journey home.
“But to cheer them up, look at the table. Your backing has helped us get there so don’t suddenly lose the faith.”
Rangers are at home to Hull City on Saturday.

What about the cost to fans, watching 3 poor away games,Warburton never mentioned that.

The last couple of games were disappointing to say the least, yes, this squad of players have got us to the top end but then they achieved this last season too. ‘Annual self destruct’ comes to mind, sort it out or we will be sliding downwards sooner than we think. We are far better than these results suggest.

The disappointment for all QPR fans is that we seem to have that self destruct every season, we had games in hand to get us up to second and then the players stop playing as a team. When the players were away the team left gave everything they all come back and then we think we can just give 80/00 percent.
So come on rangers prove you can grab automatic second place.
