Brentford troll QPR fans and Austin on Twitter after promotion triumph
Brentford have ribbed neighbours QPR on Twitter after winning promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.
The Bees, last in the top flight in 1947, went up by beating Swansea City in Saturday’s play-off final at Wembley.
The club’s Twitter account has since aimed digs at Rangers fans and Charlie Austin.
Dubbed a “bus stop in Hounslow” by some R’s supporters, Brentford have been savouring their recent success.
And they were quick to remind Austin of a sarcastic tweet the striker posted after they lost to Fulham in last season’s play-off final.
Austin also celebrated in front of Bees boss Thomas Frank after scoring QPR’s winner against Brentford last season.

I keep looking for all the signings the Bees need to make to stand any chance of Premiership survival, the current squad will just take them back down.

I’m a fan of both clubs – they were my local clubs at different times, but now I’m back home in Darlo. A bit of banter is fine, but please let’s keep it lighthearted. Don’t let it degenerate into a grudge rivalry.

I don’t understand why you would worry about another club having just won promotion. There is no real rivalry between the two clubs anyway.

To Gumbo……yrs n yrs ????
You guys only got out of league one in 2014/15 and of course we didn’t play you that season as we had gone up to the premiership from the playoffs, so yeah we finished above you. So you have had 5 seasons of finishing above us…….WOW…….Considering it took you 74 years to get to the premiership 5 years is nothing!
We have tasted the premiership via the playoffs and as championship champions. We of course were there for a few years when the premiership was formed and we finished highest London club in the first season.
Basically Brentford have been a non league or lower league club for most of their history.
Enjoy the premiership you deserved to go up, but brush up on your football history ♂️

Strange the difference in tone between both sets of supporters. One light hearted, the other bitter.

I could joke it only took Brentford 75 years to get into the top flight!
It’s all good, and hope they enjoy their time up there

When you pass us next season?? Seriously guys, to get in the prem you need more than Warburton and Austin, you’re years away from being at brentfords level.
When even did you last finish above us? Years and years ago

Let Brentford have their day, they deserve it after playing so well for the last few seasons, I gotta say tho they have got a bit too big for their boots and we will pass them at the end of next season as we go up and they go down, won’t be so cocky then, So Brentford enjoy your season in the Prem & wave at us as we go up & you go down.

Just friendly banter. Our paths will cross again this time next year when we go up and they come down.
