QPR confirm Wallace’s new contract
QPR have confirmed that Lee Wallace has signed a new one-year deal.
West London Sport revealed last month that the club would be taking up an option to extend Wallace’s contract by 12 months.
Wallace, who turns 34 in August, was signed on a two-year deal in 2019 from Glasgow Rangers, where he previously played under Mark Warburton.
Having struggled for fitness and form for much of his time in W12, Wallace has been a revelation during the second half of the season.
“He has shown the QPR fans the level of player I already knew he was,” R’s boss Warburton told the club website.
“He is a player who benefits from the rhythm of playing games and it’s great to see his fitness at such a good level, alongside the quality and consistency of his performances.
“Lee was captain for a lot of games last season and will continue to play a big mentoring role for the squad.”
Wallace said: “Once I was able to find some rhythm, I was able to give my best on the pitch and help those around me.”
Meanwhile, QPR appear to be close to a deal to keep Charlie Austin and are on the verge of completing the permanent signing of Sam Field.
Todd Kane faces the axe, with the club looking to bring in a right-back to replace him.
And chief executive Lee Hoos has told West London Sport he would like to see safe standing installed at Rangers.

Fulham might need help to get back into the top flight but why help them when they showed you the opposite that QPR gave you, tell Fulham thanks but no thanks and tell them it’s over. They will have to sell you if you show them you want out.
