Liverpool a ‘wounded animal’ – Parker
Scott Parker says Liverpool are a “wounded animal” – and if any side is most missing fans it’s the Premier League champions.
The Fulham boss has no new fitness doubts apart from long-term absentee Tom Cairney, following on from the defeat by Tottenham.
Parker was still raging about Josh Maja’s disallowed goal for handball, but agreed this was as good a time as any to be facing Jurgen Klopp’s struggling side.
Liverpool set an unwanted record when they lost five in a row in the top flight for the first time in their 129-year history against Chelsea on Thursday.
However, the Whites head coach still thinks his team need to “tread very carefully”.
He added: “You have to look at what makes them special and treat that with respect.
“You’re playing a wounded animal that’s going through a tricky spell – and that’s clear to see.
“I have huge respect for them, but it’s also about understanding where they are.
“Normally it’s a daunting place to go: that place is roaring. It’s a cliche, but the 12th man that is the fans can give you the extra edge.
“We’ll be going to Anfield without their fans – and they’re very good fans.”
