Warburton expects De Wijs to be available for QPR soon
Mark Warburton believes recent QPR signing Jordy de Wijs will soon be available for selection.
The Dutch centre-back has been nursing a calf problem since his move from Hull City.
He is yet to feature for Rangers but is expected to return to full training in the coming days.
Manager Warburton explained: “He had a calf injury coming in.
“We hope he’s only three or four days away from returning to the group.
“He had a small setback in terms of a bit of tightening – no more than that.
“He’s in a good place, I think. He’s getting there. He wants to make an immediate impression and I don’t think he’s too far away now.”
Warburton was keen for Rangers to bring in a centre-back, striker and midfielder during this month’s transfer window.
They have done so with the loan signings of De Wijs, Charlie Austin and Stefan Johansen.
Warburton said: “We have Jordy De Wijs at centre-half, Stefan in the middle of the park and Charlie up top.
“We wanted to look at the spine of the team and we’ve had a good window in that respect.”
Warburton says signings like the acquisition of goalkeeper Joe Walsh are crucial to QPR’s long-term plans.
Walsh, 18, has been signed from Gillingham as one for the future – similar to when Rangers brought in the likes of Ebere Eze, Ilias Chair, Seny Dieng and more recently Charlie Kelman.
Warburton explained: “Joe’s a young one. We’ve got to look at our recruitment and make sure that we look to the future.
“The likes of Charlie Kelman coming in – those type of young players are very important to us to keep that production line working.”

Quite surprisingly, I agree it looks like a decent bit of business in this window. Time will tell but PLEASE sort out the donkey.

There is no “production line” ! Kelman gets a few minutes here and there, Masterson loaned out, Smyth loaned out, and this young keeper won’t get a look in. Warburton is acting like some spoiled brat in the sweet shop, “I want I want I want” because it’s there !
If you buy them play them or pack your bags you Dimlo !!
