QPR aim for Equality Standard

QPR are working towards achieving the Equality Standard For Professional Football Clubs.

Chief executive Philip Beard (pictured) has signed Rangers up to the plan, demonstrating the club’s commitment to promoting all forms of equality.Beard has signed QPR up for the initiative.

The Equality Standard sets out a series of key objectives related to all areas of a club’s operation, from stewarding to staff recruitment and the development of young players.

Clubs are also encouraged to identify new target markets and fans of the future, and develop projects targeted at under-represented communities and individuals.

Developed by Kick it Out, the initiative is backed by football’s governing bodies as well was the National Association of Disabled Supporters (NADS), The Women’s Sports and Fitness Foundation (WSFF), Stonewall, The Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN), as well as The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).

To achieve the Equality Standard, clubs must produce a written equality action-plan and an equal opportunities policy. They must also seek to make stadiums free from discrimination and accessible to the local community.

An independent accreditation panel led by Kick It Out chairman Lord Herman Ouseley will decide whether Rangers will be awarded the kite mark.
