Lookman has ‘something to prove’ against Everton – Parker
Ademola Lookman has something to prove when he faces former club Everton on Sunday.
After an initial flurry of success at Goodison Park following an £11m transfer from Charlton in 2017, Lookman made only 48 appearances in two years, scoring just four times.
His new boss reckons point-scoring against the club where he was the ‘nearly man’, is just the tonic needed following the forward’s horrendous penalty miss against West Ham 13 days ago.
‘Like anything, when a player goes to face his old club there’s always a bit more for him personally – he’s got something to prove,” Scott Parker said.
“And he’s done that to some extent in a short space of time (at Fulham). He’s got a lot of quality, got an edge about him, and against his old club you’ll see a real driven player.”
Parker says he hasn’t been surprised by Everton’s decent start to the Premier League campaign despite recent hiccups.
“(Manager) Carlo Ancelotti and his CV speaks for itself, so I’m not surprised they’re doing as well as they are. They invested and bought well in the summer and there is a real good balance to the side,” Parker added.
