Jansson to return for Brentford against Wycombe
Brentford have been handed a timely fitness boost as Pontus Jansson returns to the side after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Bees boss Thomas Frank confirmed the centre-half will start Saturday’s clash with Wycombe as the Championship returns after the international break.
Jansson limped off in the 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday having played every minute in the Championship up to that point.
As well as his defensive skills, Brentford have also missed his leadership qualities, and have dropped nine points in the five matches he has missed.
With a hectic winter fixture schedule looming, midfielder Christian Norgaard is also nearing a return from his ankle problem.
Norgaard has missed the past seven league matches since being forced off in the home defeat to Preston at the start of October.
“Pontus and Christian have done everything they can, they have travelled with the squad and been cheering on from the stands and been in the dressing room and just been top,” said Frank.
“It’s the true leaders you see in the tough moments.
“When you keep a cool head, a warm heart and you make good decisions in crucial moments of the game and encourage and show direction, and that’s where Pontus is going to be crucial for us and we look forward to welcoming him back into the team.”
Frank added: “Christian is still a tiny bit away, but we he will soon be able to help the team.
“It is probably some weeks (away), but he is still on schedule.”
