Bees pick up left-back Gordon

Left-back Lewis Gordon has signed for Brentford on a one-year contract with the option of a further year.

The 19-year-old joined the Bees on trial after being released by Watford, featuring in pre-season fixtures against Hanwell Town, Erith Town and Swindon Town.

He will initially play for Brentford’s B team.

Gordon came through the ranks at Vicarage Road, playing for Watford’s Under-18s before progressing onto their Under-23s.

He is also a Scotland youth international, turning out for the Under-17s in European Championship qualifiers, and friendlies for the Under-19s.

Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane said: “First and foremost, Lewis is the right type of character to come into the group; he’s been in with us for a couple of weeks now and fitted in superbly.

“Athletically he’s really good. We’ve also seen his quality on the ball, and we think that he’ll be a fantastic addition.”

Meanwhile, Brentford striker Gustav Mogensen has been added to Denmark’s Under-19s squad for their match against Germany on Monday.

Mogensen was called up fresh from his hat-trick for MacFarlane’s Brentford B side last Wednesday in their London Senior Cup semi-final win over Erith.

That treble included the last-ever Brentford goal scored at Griffin Park and made it four goals in two games this campaign.

The Dane also played the final half-hour of the Bees’ 2-1 friendly defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday.
