‘We’re getting closer’ declares Di Matteo after Blues draw
Roberto Di Matteo remained upbeat about Chelsea’s chances of a top-four finish despite them dropping two points in the derby against Fulham.
Chelsea would have moved level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham but for Clint Dempsey’s late equaliser at Craven Cottage.
But interim boss Di Matteo was quick to point out that his team had still closed the gap on Spurs, who lost at home to Norwich earlier in the day.
“We’re still in there – hanging in there. We’re getting closer to the teams ahead of us,” he said.
“We are closer to that fourth spot than we were. We’re another point closer to Tottenham and that is how I see it. We have to think positively.
“We have an experienced team and very good players and will raise our game for the next challenge.”
