Hughes: Settled back four could be key to QPR’s escape
QPR manager Mark Hughes believes having a settled back four could be the key to his side’s Premier League survival.
Injuries and suspensions have hit Rangers hard and Hughes is convinced that constant changes to the defence have been a major factor in their struggle to stay up.
He said: “Our back four hasn’t been settled during my time and probably before that as well.
“It’s not been easy. Ideally you’d want a settled back four and unfortunately we haven’t been able to have that. At times we’ve had to mix and match and just get on with what we’ve got.
“Hopefully we can get a bit of continuity in our selection between now and the end of the season and that will help us.”

It hasn’t been settled until now for a good reason (none of the various combinations have been good enough). Whether we survive in the premier league or go down, there will need to be changes next season. For the time being, I’d stick with the back four from the Arsenal game (though Traore could come in for Taiwo). I know Luke Young has his fans but the fact is that he’s been culpable for a number of goals through poor positioning and, the alternative, Onuoha looks better at right back than in the centre.
