Blues star comes through scare on eve of Champions League clash

David Luiz is expected to be passed fit for tonight’s Champions League clash with his former club Benfica despite an injury scare on the eve of the game.

The Chelsea defender was a doubt for the quarter-final second leg but trained on Tuesday evening with his knee heavily strapped.

And there was a tense moment for the Blues camp when Luiz took a heavy knock in a challenge from team-mate Fernando Torres during the session at Stamford Bridge.

But Luiz played on and is tipped to be available this evening along with Branislav Ivanovic, Didier Drogba and Raul Meireles, who have also been nursing injuries.
