Ivanovic back for Aston Villa game

Branislav Ivanovic has recovered from a thigh problem and is available to face Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Chelsea defender failed a fitness test ahead of the midweek Champions League clash with Benfica, but has now been given the green light to return to action.

However, midfielder Raul Meireles is set to miss out this weekend after picking up an injury.

“I’m very happy we have almost a full squad to select from. Ivanovic is available again, Meireles is the only doubt,” said interim boss Roberto Di Matteo.

“[Meireles] got a knock just above his knee so it shouldn’t be too serious but he is not ready for Saturday.”
