FA and Everton investigate Barkley missile incident

The Football Association and Everton are investigating after an object was thrown towards Ross Barkley during Chelsea’s game against the Merseyside club on Sunday.

Former Everton player Barkley was making his first appearance back at Goodison Park since leaving for Chelsea last year.

The incident occurred in the seventh minute of the match, which Everton won 2-0.

An item was thrown from the Gwladys Street End of the ground but did not hit anyone.

The FA have written to both clubs asking for their observations.
