‘Shameful’ Sarri decision angers Chelsea fans
Chelsea’s miserable spell continued with an FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United.
Goals from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba took United through to the quarter-finals – and increased the pressure on Maurizio Sarri.
Head coach Sarri was again barracked by Blues fans, with the decision to bring Davide Zappacosta on rather than Callum Hudson-Odoi late in the game in particular causing anger.
The continued overlooking of youngster Hudson-Odoi, who is wanted by Bayern Munich, is testing the patience of many fans.
Many in the stadium were incensed by the introduction of Zappacosta and the reaction on Twitter was similarly furious.
The decision was described as “incomprehensible”, even “shameful”, as many supporters made their disgust clear.
Can’t help or back this guy if he keeps picking the same players to try play his way… and Hudson Odoi didn’t even get asked to warm up on the bench… what’s all that about ? #CFC

That final sub, bringing on Zappacosta for Azpilicueta with Giroud & Hudson-Odoi watching from the bench, was incomprehensible #cfc

Zero mins given to Hudson Odoi. That’s pretty shameful. Purposely not giving a player mins just because he wanted out to try and further his career. Sarri has to go along with 7/8 of these players. #CFC

I’ve no idea what stops Sarri to bring Hudson Odoi or Giroud instead of Zappacosta when his team were trailing 2 goals to United at their home.#cfc #CHEMUN #FACup #EmiratesFACup #mufc #Chelsea #ManUtd

At this point, Sarri needs to be sacked and we need to bring Zidane in with a different philosophy and knowing how to utilise, hazard and Hudson odoi🙏🏼 #CFCvMUFC #CFC #CHEMNU

I’d be fuming if I was Hudson-Odoi, best generation of young players we’ve ever seen, all of them playing and showing their stuff and he’s not even given minutes in this joke of a team. His agent will be a busy man #CHEMUN #CFC

Zappacosta instead of Hudson Odoi or even Giroud??? Nah I’m done now #SarriOut #CFC #CFCMUFC

Sarri is literally giving Hudson-Odoi the Giaccherini treatment. x11 and +3 players he trusts. Never wanted Conte nor Sarri sacked but why do managers do stuff that is avoidable & hinders the team? I just don’t get it, even the fanbase knows who should & shouldn’t be playing #CFC

Sarri refuses to play Hudson-Odoi, plays Kante in the wrong position (a world class CDM who’s been put out of his position) and constantly playing Jorginho (who is and will never be as good as Fabregas). So many problems with this squad and line-up. Simply too many. #CFC

I’ve been forgiving and patient with Sarri, he had a short off-season and hasn’t had time to bring in “his” players – but his stubbornness to not adjust or change during this run in form is frustrating.
Zappacosta on instead of Hudson-Odoi down 2 – 0 late? Brutal.#CFC https://t.co/XhIUWGrrYb

How frustrating seeing players like Hudson-Odoi and Loftus Cheek sitting on the bench every game, such a waste of English talent! #CFC

Can’t imagine what Hudson-Odoi is thinking when he’s watching this, and Sarri brings on Zappacosta when down 2 – 0…#CFC #FACup

APART from the utter humiliation of being a Chelsea fan these days, there are a few more FAR serious repercussions of this disaster called Sarriball:
– We’ve lost Hudson-Odoi.
– Almost certainly lost our best player.
– No UCL = more financial duress. #CHEMUN #CFC— Serene Sareen (@notserenesareen) February 18, 2019
Like for like subs every single game. Never plays Hudson-Odoi. Even when he’s fit we hardly see any of Loftus-Cheek. Its getting harder and harder to back Sarri. #cfc #sarri

I believe in giving managers time. But when we’re 2-0 down at home to United, and your 3rd and final sub is another like-for-like, and it’s a defender, leaving talent like @Calteck10 and @_OlivierGiroud_ on the bench… there’s something wrong #CFC #PlayCHO

No matter what anyone says, it is totally, completely, irrevocably unacceptable to be 2-0 down, at home and bring Zappacosta on and leave Hudson Odoi in his coat on the bench. In what world is that a good idea? I’m baffled. #CFC

Sarriball doesn’t work in the premiership, it’s become too predictable as even Bournemouth showed how to beat us!! No plan B, only using like for like subs. I remember trailing 2-0 at home to Liverpool at half time F A Cup 4th round. Gullit changed things, Vialli on and hey presto 4-2 win!!!!! Why does Sarri not try something different? 2-0 down go 3 at the back bring on Hudson-Odoi and Giroud have a go at them, nothing to lose.Perhaps he only knows one way of playing, sarriball 433. Worse than Scolari was I hate to admit.

What on earth is sarri thinking you are two goals down and your final sub is bringing a player we almost thought is no longer a Chelsea player when you have young talents that can change the game. This man has lost ideas.U keep playing the same team that is not yielding results I think for me it’s game over.
