Hughes ‘could drop Barton’

A number of today’s papers suggest Mark Hughes has indicated that he may drop Joey Barton from the QPR starting line-up.

Hughes faces a big decision.

Barton was booed off by fans while being substituted against Liverpool in midweek and Rangers’ subsequent fightback from two-down to win 3-2 leaves manager Hughes with a decision to make.

The Sun, Daily Mirror and Daily Star quote Hughes as saying: “Will the decision to drop Barton be more difficult because he is captain? Not really.

“I pick what I feel will win Premier League matches. I don’t base my selections on individual personalities.”
