Liverpool 2 Fulham 0

Fulham battled at Anfield but remain rooted to the bottom of the table after a sixth consecutive Premier League defeat.

Mohamed Salah scored four minutes before half-time – seconds after the Whites wrongly had a goal disallowed – and Xherdan Shaqiri doubled Liverpool’s lead early in the second half.

After Aleksandar Mitrovic headed in Tom Cairney’s cross but was adjudged to be offside, Liverpool broke and Salah raced on to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ball forward before firing past keeper Rico.

Having absorbed sustained pressure, Fulham had enjoyed a decent spell of their own in the first half.

Prior to the disallowed goal, Ryan Sessegnon missed a great chance to put the visitors ahead when he fired wide after being put through by Mitrovic’s flick.

Fulham did not give up and were better defensively than in recent matches.

But their shortcomings were exposed again when the unmarked Shaqiri wandered into the box to casually volley home Andy Robertson’s left-wing cross.
