Chelsea coach says PSG keeper wanted Blues move

Chelsea goalkeeper coach Christophe Lollichon has told French newspaper Le Figaro that Paris St Germain keeper Alphonse Areola wanted a move to Stamford Bridge.

Areola was among the host of keepers Chelsea were linked with before the club signed Kepa Arrizabalaga to replace Thibaut Courtois.

And Lolichon says Areola was keen to join the Blues.

He is quoted as saying: “We spoke a lot in the summer. He wanted to come here, but the final decision was not my responsibility.

“It would have been a pleasure to work with him.”
